Cassini Resources hits strong conductors at One Tree Hill

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Cassini Resources (ASX: CZI) has received assay and down-hole EM surveying results from a recently completed diamond hole CZD0008, undertaken on the One Tree Hill prospect, located within the company’s 100 per cent-owned West Musgrave project in Western Australia.

Cassini said down-hole EM (DHEM) surveying of CZD0008 at the One Tree Hill prospect identified two off-hole EM conductors with modelled conductance of around 100,000 Siemens.

The company has interpreted these conductors to have complex 3-dimensional geometries.

Both were narrowly missed by the drilling of CZD0008, possibly by as little as 5m according to the company – approximately 330 metres below surface.

The company is optimistic the high-grade copper hits demonstrate the potential of the system with Chalcopyrite veins in the upper parts of CZD0008 having returned intercepts of:

0.3 metres at 10.1 per cent copper from 193.8m; and

0.4m at 4.48 per cent copper from 250.9m.

“We are extremely pleased with the results from One Tree Hill considering the early stage nature of exploration completed to date,” Cassini Resources managing director Richard Bevan said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“The off-hole conductors identified represent compelling drill targets that will be tested as part of Cassini’s future drilling program.

“We have already demonstrated the inherent value of our West Musgrave project with the Nebo-Babel Scoping Study, but this is just a small fraction of our 1,500 square kilometre land holding.

Ramelius Resources claims new Mt Magnet gold discovery

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Ramelius Resources (ASX: RMS) has claimed discovery of high-grade gold mineralisation while drilling its first deeper exploration drill hole below the company’s Milky Way open pit, located southwest of the Checker gold mill at Mt Magnet in Western Australia.

Ramelius drilled a single deep exploration drill hole below Milky Way, down dip of a historical high-grade gold intersection (MWP0123: 8m at 23.7g/t gold from 100m) previously thought to have been closed off.

The new drill hole carried out by Ramelius (GXRC1328 – using a 0.5 g/t Au lower cut) intersected:

6 metres at 11.64 grams per tonne gold from 189m, including 2m at 33.4g/t gold from 190m.

Ramelius explained the new high-grade gold mineralisation to be contained within a six metre-wide mineralised fault zone, which it has interpreted to be the down dip projection of the intersection reported in MWP0123.

“The entire length of the felsic porphyry being targeted in GXRC1328 returned anomalous gold mineralisation from 129 metres to 246 metres, end of hole (using a 0.1g/t gold lower cut),” Ramelius Resources said in its ASX announcement.

Broader anomalous intervals included:

17m at 0.56g/t gold from 129m;

7m at 1.99g/t gold from 152m;

21m at 3.62g/t gold from 189m; and

30m at 0.82g/t gold from 215m.

“These intersections are considered highly encouraging as they demonstrate potential for a larger tonnage mineralised porphyry target within the company’s Mt Magnet gold camp,” the company continued.

“Gold mineralisation remains open in all directions.

“Step out drilling to test the dip and strike continuity of the high-grade fault zone and the broader mineralised porphyry unit will commence before the end of the month.”

Coventry Resources strikes thick Alaskan copper

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Coventry Resources. (ASX: CYY) practically shouted the latest results from drilling being carried out at the company’s Caribou Dome copper project in Alaska.

The company said assay results of the drilling have confirmed thick, high‐grade mineralisation has been intersected in exploration drill hole CD15‐14.

The results are part of an ongoing drilling program at the Lense 7/8 target.

CD15‐14 is the first hole Coventry has drilled to commence evaluation of a previously untested, strong, 175m long induced polarisation (IP) anomaly located adjacent to outcropping mineralisation at Lenses 7 and 8.

Coventry explained the Lense 7/8 target emerged as a high priority due to its proximity to high‐grade mineralisation that was evident in adjacent historic drilling.

Results from the recent drilling include:

0.8 metres at 12.4 per cent copper from 128.7m;

14.1m at 9.9 per cent copper from 134.6m;

2.4m at 3.7 per cent copper from 159.8m, and

0.4m at 13.6 per cent copper from 167.4m.

Based on the limited information it has available to date, Coventry has interpreted the reported thicknesses to be close to true widths.

The company explained that it does not consider the mineralisation intersected in CD15‐14 to be down‐dip extensions of previously known mineralisation – that is it is not considered to be part of mineralisation at Lenses 3, 7, 8 or 9 – rather Coventry considers it is probably part of a new, previously undiscovered, ‘lense’ of mineralisation.

“New IP data and historic Mise‐a‐la‐Masse data (another electrical geophysical technique) show that the mineralisation in CD15‐14 coincides with strong geophysical anomalies,” Coventry Resources said in its ASX announcement.

“These are considered likely to arise from the strike extensions of the massive sulphide mineralisation, hence there is considerable potential to delineate additional mineralisation along strike from the mineralisation intersected in CD15‐14, and at depth.”

Encouraged by the results of recent drilling, Coventry said it now has one of two drilling rigs currently on site drilling additional holes to follow‐up on the mineralisation intersected in CD15‐14.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it’s off to work we go

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Companies getting busy on the drill bit this week include Helix Resources, Cauldron Energy, Alligator Energy, and Minotaur Exploration.

Drilling Testing Extension of Mingary Gold Unit

Minotaur Exploration (ASX: MEP) has begun drilling to test the extent of gold mineralisation along strike from historic workings of the Mingary Mine, located in the northern part of the Minotaur/Sumitomo Bonython Hill EL 4745, approximately 75km southwest of Broken Hill.

2014 RC drilling revealed sulphide-rich copper-gold-silver mineralisation up to 600 metres north of the old workings.

Rock chip samples of up to 2.4 grams per tonne gold 1.5 kilometres north of Mingary confirmed continuation of the Mingary feature in vicinity of 2014 RC drilling.

Interpretation of magnetics suggest the system continues for 12km.

The upcoming drilling will test the continuity of the gold bearing unit for up to 12km north.

Petrology of 2014 RC chips and copper-gold-silver metal association of the Mingary horizon indicate this could potentially be a new style of Broken Hill type (BHT) mineralisation.

Drilling for Uranium at Beatrice

Alligator Energy (ASX: AGE) has started drilling on the Beatrice project in the Northern Territory seeking high-grade uranium mineralisation.

A 3,500 metre shallow drilling program is planned to test three priority targets (BT-4, Beatrice prospect and BT-1) defined by recent geophysical and geochemical surveys.

The program is expected to be completed by the end of October.

Alligator’s 2015 drilling campaign began in September at the BT-4 prospect.

Drilling is targeting a strong, north-south trending SAM conductor extending over 1,000 metres.

The BT-4 anomaly is located two kilometres north of the Beatrice prospect along strike from a SAM (Sub Audio Magnetics) conductor, magnetic and uranium mineralisation and soil anomalism that defines the Beatrice prospect drill target.

The target is concealed by sands which render traditional spectrometer and geochemical sampling, as well as radiogenic isotope sampling, ineffective.

Light rig drilling is planned to collect weathered bedrock samples from beneath the young alluvial material for radiometric/geochemical analysis.

Definition of anomalous uranium and strong alteration by first pass drilling will be considered a highly positive result justifying deeper infill drilling.

Drilling at Bennet Well

Cauldron Energy (ASX: CXU) has completed a comprehensive geological review of the mineralisation setting of its wholly-owned Bennet Well uranium deposit.

The review highlighted areas proximal to the deposit with potential to further extend the Mineral Resource.

Cauldron is about to commence a mud rotary drilling program with downhole geophysical logging comprising 40 holes for a total of 4,000m which is designed to test the high priority targets and also further improve the metallurgical understanding of the deposit.

The drilling is being supported by a Western Australian Department of Mines and Petroleum award grant of up to $150,000 for drill testing greenfield type targets.

Joshua Drilling Underway

Helix Resources (ASX: HLX) has commenced a Stage 1 – US$1.2 million diamond drilling program at the company’s Joshua copper-gold porphyry project in Region IV – Chile.

The drill program will target untested potassic portions of the system and zones where the Helix considers potential exists for copper enrichment.

The first two holes are planned to be drilled to a depth of 500 metres and are expected to pass into the potassic zone of the Joshua porphyry system.

Subsequent holes will then expand out from the potassic core of the system to test strike, grade continuity and expand the potential volume of the mineralisation at Joshua.

This drilling will test zones where petrological studies by Helix identified enrichment in the form of Chalcocite overprinting Chalcopyrite.

Doray and Iluka JV identifies Western Gawler gold targets

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Doray Minerals (ASX: DRM)  has completed resampling of shallow drill holes within the Western Gawler area, which is the subject of a Farm-in Agreement the company has with Iluka Resources (ASX: ILU).

According to Doray, the resampling has shown up a number of large coincident geochemical and structural targets, which the company believes to underline the potential for the project area to host generous gold mineralisation.

Under the terms of the Farm-in Agreement with Iluka Resources, Doray has the right to earn 80 per cent of any gold discovery within the project area by spending $7 million over a six year period.

“Doray has recently completed a resampling and assaying exercise, comprising samples from approximately 2,000 historical shallow drill holes that drilled through surficial material and penetrated basement lithologies,” Doray Minerals explained inits ASX announcement.

“These samples had never previously been assayed for gold and/or pathfinder elements and were held in storage by Iluka.

“Following analysis and subsequent compilation of the resulting data, Doray has identified a number of gold and/or pathfinder anomalies that, in some cases overly obvious structural features identified in the detailed aeromagnetic data previously collected by Iluka.”

The highest priority target to emerge from the resampling work has been identified as ‘Target A’, which has a footprint of approximately 64 square kilometres and has produced a number of samples with elevated gold and pathfinders.

Doray indicated it is now liaising with Iluka to plan for drill testing of Target A during the December Quarter, once all necessary permits and approvals have been received.

West African Resources claims new gold discovery at Tanlouka

THE DRILL SERGEANT: West African Resources (ASX: WAF) has claimed a nerw gold discovery after encountering high-grade results from first-pass shallow oxide RC drilling at the M3 prospect, within the company’s Tanlouka gold project in Burkina Faso.

West African Resources explained the discovery at the M3 prospect of high-grade shallow oxide gold mineralisation came from first-pass wide spaced RC drilling with discovery holes TAC0995 and TAC0996 having been drilled directly beneath a previous 13g/t gold auger result.

Results included:
TAC0995
6 metres at 1.88 grams per tonne gold from 40m ending in mineralisation; and

TAC0996
32m at 5.02g/t gold, including 13m at 7.14g/t gold from 2m.

“A first pass result of 32 metres at 5.02 grams per tonne gold in oxide near surface highlights the upside potential of the Tanlouka gold project,” West African Resources managing director Richard Hyde said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“To date the company has done very little work outside the M5 resource area and the new gold discovery at M3 will boost the already robust economics of the heap leach starter project.

“The new gold discovery at M3 is located less than two kilometres from the proposed starter pit.

“Completion of the Feasibility Study will be extended to Q4 2015 to allow new oxide mineralisation from M1 and M3 zones to be incorporated into the resource inventory and mine plan.

“Follow-up drilling will commence in October after the current wet season.”

According to West African Resources none of the recently discovered gold mineralisation at the M3 prospect is currently included the project resource inventory.

M3 mineralisation will be followed-up with closer spaced drilling Hyde said would be undertaken in late October 2015.

The results from this are expected to be modelled and incorporated in a resource update later this year.

The company believes any additional higher grade oxide tonnes will have a positive impact on the project economics.

Sandfire continues drill hits at Talisman’s Monty

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Sandfire Resources (ASX: SFR) has received assays for step-out diamond holes TLDD0009 and TLDD0010, recently drilled on the Monty copper-gold discovery.

Monty is located east of the DeGrussa copper-gold mine on the Springfield project, which is part of a farm-in with Talisman Mining (ASX: TLM).

Sandfire said the two holes were drilled concurrently to test for mineralised extensions in the areas up-dip of the known mineralisation.

Diamond hole TLDD0009 returned the high-grade intercepts approximately 55 metres up-dip of a previously reported intersection in TLDD0005 (9.2m @ 11.8% Cu and 2.9g/t Au from 417.0m):

Results include:
1 metre at 8.6 per cent copper and 0.3 grams per tonne gold from 343m to 344m down-hole (true width not known at this time, top of intercept is 301.2m vertically below surface);

7.9m at 8.3 per cent copper and 2.4g/t gold from 363.1m to 371m down-hole (true width not known at this time, top of intercept is 316.3m vertically below surface); and

4.8m at 4.9 per cent copper and 1.1g/t gold from 385.8m to 390.6m down-hole (true width not known at this time, top of intercept is 334.7m vertically below surface).

Diamond hole TLDD0010 returned the following:
0.5m at 1.2 per cent copper and 1.4g/t gold from 355.6m to 356.1m down-hole (true width not known at this time, top of intercept is 312.2m vertically below surface);

10.5m at 18.9 per cent copper and 3.1g/t gold from 359.7m to 370.2m down-hole (true width not known at this time, top of intercept is 314.5m vertically below surface; and

4.7m at 12.8 per cent copper and 2.5g/t gold from 373.6m to 378.2m down-hole (true width not known at this time, top of intercept is 328m vertically below surface).

“Drilling completed to date suggests that the mineralisation may be plunging to the north-east at approximately 45 degrees and remains open both up- and down-plunge,” Sandfire Resources said in its ASX announcement.

“These up- and down-plunge locations are considered prospective for extensions to the current known mineralisation.”

Blackham Resources scores further drill success at Matilda

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Blackham Resources (ASX: BLK) announced further results from drilling at the company’s Matilda gold project in Western Australia.

According to Blackham recent drilling has identified a number of extensions the company considers could expand and add further confidence to the project’s free milling, open pit mining inventory prior to the anticipated recommissioning of the Wiluna gold plant next year.

The recent drilling also provided samples for metallurgical test work and geotechnical assessment as part of the preliminary feasibility study which is currently underway.

Drilling targeting the base of the M1 pit returned:
MADD0018
14.5 metres at 6.74 grams per tonne gold from 163m, including 4.4m at 15.6g/t gold from 163m;

MADD0019
9.5m at 2.64g/t gold from 123m and 11.1m at 0.97g/t gold from 138m and 8m at 2.26g/t gold from 153m and 10m at 1.39g/t gold from 175m

Drilling at M10 returned:
MADD0006
14.2m at 3.64g/t gold from 38.5m; and

MADD0012
1m at 8.08g/t gold from 47m.

Drilling targeting the base of the M2 pit returned:
MADD0010
6.5m at 1.25g/t gold from 142m and 14.8m at 1.65g/t gold from 150m; and

MADD0011
7.65m at 2.03g/t gold from 35.8m.

“Drilling at M1 targeted the base of the proposed pit along the Central and Eastern Lodes to add confidence to the existing resource model,” Blackham Resources said in its ASX announcement.

“Four holes drilled at M1 intersected mineralisation at the expected depths and have validated the geological model based largely on historical drilling and Blackham’s RC drilling.”

The company explained its drilling and mining studies have been focussed on adding further confidence as well as extending the Matilda Mine resources, which contains 12.5 million tonnes at 1.8g/t gold for 712,000 ounces as a base load feed of soft free-milling ore for the 1.3 million tonnes per annum Wiluna gold plant.

The company said its aim is to identify further shallow resources along the 3.5km strike of Matilda which are amenable to open pit mining.

Australian Bauxite claims bauxite discovery at Brovinia

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Australian Bauxite (ASX: ABX) has claimed a new bauxite discovery after receiving high-grade assays from surface samples taken from a wide area at Brovinia in central Queensland.

ABX described the Brovinia bauxite as a new discovery in an area the company considers to be suitable for mine development once all socio-environmental assessments are completed.

Brovinia is located 88kms south of ABX’s Binjour bauxite project area in central Queensland, which hosts the highest quality bauxite in its portfolio of bauxite resources across all of its eastern Australian tenements that currently total 119 million tonnes.

ABX said the discovery of a large new plateau capped with bauxite confirms the company’s assessment of the Binjour project to be the core of a new bauxite province with potential to become a flagship project for ABX over the next few years.

The company has drilling planned for the Binjour region for October-November 2015, which it indicated will also include some reconnaissance drilling across the bauxite discoveries in the Brovinia area.

“The Brovinia discovery is another demonstration of ABX’s proprietary exploration technology,” Australian Bauxite CEO Ian Levy said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“These ground-truthing sample results suggest the bauxite is similar in quality to Binjour bauxite.

“If Brovinia bauxite is as thick as the bauxite at Binjour, we may establish sufficient resources in the Binjour-Brovinia area for an early project development, starting with feasibility studies in 2016.

“ABX considers the Binjour-Brovinia bauxite project to be the highest grade new trihydrate gibbsite bauxite project in the Pacific Basin.”
