Xanadu Mines Continues Mongolian Copper Hits

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Xanadu Mines (ASX: XAM) updated the market on the progress of ongoing exploration activities at the company’s Kharmagtai project in the South Gobi region of Mongolia.

Xanadu Mines said the drilling is targeting discovery of additional near-surface porphyry copper-gold deposits undercover while testing for continuity of mineralisation below the current resources within, what it described as being a, ‘largely under-explored porphyry copper-gold district’.

The company claimed that deep drilling at Altan Tolgoi has confirmed continuous high-grade mineralisation at depth, with results including:

KHDDH394
646 metres at 0.51 per cent copper and 0.87 grams per tonne gold (1.06% copper equivalent [CuEq]) from 16m, including 64m at 1.06 per cent copper and 3.15g/t gold (3.08% CuEq) from 18m; and

KHDDH394A
385m at 0.52 per cent copper and 0.6g/t gold (0.9% CuEq) from 351m.

“The intersection of high-grade breccia mineralisation at depth demonstrates the potential size and scale of the Kharmagtai mineralised system,” Xanadu Mines managing director and chief executive officer Dr Andrew Stewart said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“We are yet to define the extents of the Altan Tolgoi porphyry system, and further drilling is planned below the zone of breccia hosted chalcopyrite-gold mineralisation to test whether a higher-grade bornite core is in the root zones of this large breccia system.

“High-grade mineralisation may be manifested as bornite-goldcemented breccia or as bornite-gold stockwork mineralisation in the causative intrusive complex at Kharmagtai.”

Xanadu claimed the mineralisation identified within the resource shell by the drilling to be better than, or similar to, the project’s current resource estimate.

The high-grade breccia hosted chalcopyrite‐gold mineralisation, as identified by the current drilling results, remains open at depth.

Xanadu said widespread near-surface copper and gold mineralisation has been intersected in the bedrock drilling while six potential porphyry clusters have also been identified, containing 19 individual porphyry and epithermal targets.

Further drilling at the Altan Burged prospect intersected additional and substantial broad zones of near-surface gold-rich porphyry mineralisation, including:

KHDDH401
20m at 1.73g/t gold and 0.18 per cent copper from 39m.

Xanadu said drilling at Altan Burged has continued to define the size and shape of the newly-discovered porphyry centre.

Seven diamond drill holes have been completed, which have defined a large scale porphyry system, approximately 250 by 150 metres wide.

Blackstone Minerals Drilling at Silver Swan

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Blackstone Minerals (ASX: BSX) announced the commencement of drilling at the company’s Silver Swan South project, northeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

Blackstone Minerals indicated this initial phase of drilling will focus on further definition of gold targets associated with an interpreted northern extension of the Fitzroy Shear, which it pointed out to be the controlling host structure at the Kanowna Belle gold deposit.

The program will also entail infill drilling of historical, broad spaced, reconnaissance drilling which intersected up to 3.5g/t gold as well as target thickening of the ultramafic sequence Blackstone considers to be prospective for nickel sulphides located 10 kilometres from the Silver Swan nickel mine.

The upcoming work will also prioritise both gold and nickel targets for follow up RC drilling.

“At Silver Swan South, Blackstone gets to test two targets for the price of one,” Blackstone Minerals technical director Andrew Radonjic said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“The company is looking forward to testing for the interpreted strike extension of the controlling structure from a major gold deposit and for testing an ultramafic unit which is part of a sequence of komatiites which already hosts two major nickel deposits, both targets being within close proximity to Kalgoorlie.”

Cobalt Blue Confirms Thackaringa Potential

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Cobalt Blue Holdings (ASX: COB) declared it had been encouraged by assay results from a drilling program it commenced in November 2016 at the company’s Thackaringa project near Broken Hill, New South Wales.

Cobalt Blue explained the drilling had been carried out across three prospect areas, Railway, Pyrite Hill and Big Hill and that the results reinforce the cobalt and pyrite development opportunity at Thackaringa.

The drilling was commenced by Cobalt Blue’s parent company, Broken Hill Prospecting (ASX: BPL) which retains a participating interest in the project.

A total Inferred Mineral Resource of 33.1 million tonnes at 833ppm cobalt (at a 500ppm Co cut-off) has previously been estimated at the Thackaringa project.

Results released by Cobalt Blue were achieved at the Railway and Pyrite Hill deposits and include:

At Railway

16DM05
48 metres at 1,045ppm cobalt from 30m;

16DM06
42m at 1,615ppm cobalt from 28m;

16DM07
25m at 1,232 ppm cobalt from 35m and 26m at 1,456 ppm cobalt from 71m; and

16DM08
4m at 1,301ppm cobalt from 57m and 19m at 1,221ppm cobalt from 76m.

At Pyrite Hill

16DM01
52m at 840ppm cobalt from 95m, Including 7m at 1,111ppm cobalt from 96m; and

16DM02
23m at 1,392ppm cobalt from 127m.

“Mineralisation at the three prospects has a combined strike length of 4.5 kilometres with widths varying from 25 metres to 100 metres,” Cobalt Blue Holdings said in its ASX announcement.

“The increased thickness is typically due to the extensive development of tight isoclinal folding within the pyritic horizon.”

Cobalt Blue explained the 2016 drilling program, of eight fully-cored diamond drill holes at the three locations, was undertaken primarily to provide sufficient material to undertake meaningful metallurgical test work.

“By twinning previous RC holes the JV was able to confirm the tenor of mineralisation and compare the assays and sampling protocols for historical RC percussion drilling vs diamond drilling,” the company said.

“The program is designed to extend the drilling coverage and improve drilling density in support of future Mineral Resource estimations, replace some of the historical drilling for QA/QC purposes and provide material for further metallurgical testwork.”

Corazon Mining Encounters More High-Grade Sulphides at Fraser Lake

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Corazon Mining (ASX: CZN) reported initial results from second phase drilling at the Fraser Lake Complex (FLC), located five kilometres south of the company’s 100 per cent-owned Lynn Lake nickel-copper-cobalt mining centre in Canada.

Corazon Mining announced initial results from the latest completed hole, FLC-2017-010, which it said has intersected multiple zones of magmatic massive sulphide within a gabbro host with strong pervasive levels of sulphide mineralisation.

Corazon carried out field-analysis using a hand-held XRF of two fine-grained massive sulphide zones, which returned results of 5 per cent to 12 per cent nickel (at approximately 145m downhole) and 2 per cent to 2.5 per cent nickel (at approximately 82m downhole).

The company claimed these early results had substantiated the high nickel tenor of the FLC mineralisation.

“The FLC is an exceptional exploration target,” Corazon Mining managing director Brett Smith said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“These rocks are exactly what we would expect to see in a long-lived fertile magmatic sulphide system.

“The sheer volume of sulphide-rich gabbro, along with the high-grade sulphide zones, continues to support and add weight to our belief that this area may host a significant new nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide deposit.”

FLC-2017-010 is the fourth hole Corazon has drilled into the Matrix trend.

The company claims it exhibits similar strong nickel- copper-cobalt sulphide mineralisation to previous holes FLC-2017-002, -003 and -008.

FLC-2017-010 has been drilled to 475m depth and has intersected more zones of magmatic massive sulphide mineralisation than in the previous drilling.

Corazon said these zones are thin, typically less than 0.5 metres and suggest the injection of multiple pulses of sulphide rich magmatic melt.

The four holes completed so far have provided Corazon an initial test of the large Matrix Trend over approximately 400m in strike, at what the company has interpreted to be the far northeastern extents of a feeder zone of more than 1.5 kilometres in length.

The company has reported sulphide mineralisation in all, in what it considers to be a peripheral to the main target, being a large sulphide deposit within the feeder zone of a fertile gabbroic complex.

Musgrave Minerals Extends High-Grades at Break of Day

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Musgrave Minerals (ASX: MGV) received results for the latest drilling carried out at the Break of Day prospect on the Cue project in the Murchison region of Western Australia.

Musgrave Minerals is working up the Cue project in a Farm-In and Joint Venture Agreement with Silver Lake Resources (ASX: SLR).

Musgrave has met the Stage 1 Earn-In holding a 60 per cent JV interest in the project and has elected to progress to Stage 2 and increase its equity to 80 per cent.

Recent results include:

17MORC003

1 metre at 117.4 grams per tonne gold from 173m down hole.

Musgrave claimed this intersection extends the high-grade gold mineralisation on the Twilight Lode a further 25m south on section 13275mN.

17MORC006

2m @ 16.2g/t Au from 120m down hole

Musgrave explained this hole was drilled on section 13350mN.

“This is another positive result with the high-grade gold in 17MORC003 extending the Twilight Lode at Break of Day a further 25 metres south,” Musgrave Minerals managing director Rob Waugh said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“The mineralisation is still open to the south and down plunge which creates an opportunity for Musgrave to continue to extend this high-grade gold mineralisation to grow the resource.”

The JV is waiting to receive assays for an additional 38 drill holes that have been drilled at Break of Day and Lena.

It believes there is potential to continue to improve the grade and increase the gold resources at Lena and Break of Day with further drilling.

Breaker Resources Establishes Continuation of Bambora Mineralisation

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Breaker Resources (ASX: BRB) released infill drilling results, which it claims to confirm continuity of wide, high-grade mineralisation at the Bombora discovery within the company’s 100 per cent-owned Lake Roe gold project near Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

Breaker Resources considers the results to be a major milestone in demonstrating the continuity, mineability and therefore the economic potential of the 2.2 kilometres-long Bombora discovery.

The company explained the current RC and diamond drilling is part of an ongoing program it is carrying out to assess the geometry, grade characteristics and extent of gold mineralisation both within and along strike from the Bombora discovery prior to resource estimation.

Breaker said the infill RC and diamond drilling results confirmed three stacked gold-mineralised fault orientations, which it believes are likely to boost ounces per vertical metre, strengthening the economics of what the company rates as a major greenfields gold discovery.

Latest RC results include:

BBRC0190

12 metres at 5.83 grams per tonne gold from 52m, including 4m at 11.52g/t gold;

BBRC0194

BBDD0008

3.55m at 7.77g/t gold from 50.45m, including 1.93m at 13.8g/t gold, including 1.48m at 17.54g/t gold; and

BBDD0009

1.3m at 6.79g/t gold from 64m, including 0.5m at 12.26g/t gold.

“The close-spaced infill drilling is demonstrating good continuity which translates to good potential mineability,” Breaker Resources executive chairman Tom Sanders said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“We are also continuing to see more gold in general as we drill close to gold intersections that were previously ‘floating in space’ in many areas due to the wide-spaced nature of the drilling.

“The stacked nature of the gold lodes and the presence of at least three gold-mineralised orientations is likely to be very positive for the overall gold endowment.

“Bombora is clearly shaping up as a major greenfields gold discovery and we are continuing to unlock its potential as rapidly as possible with three rigs currently undertaking resource drilling on the main 2.2 kilometres-long discovery zone in conjunction with selective drilling both along strike and at depth.”

Investigator Resources Commences Nankivel Drilling

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Investigator Resources (ASX: IVR) commenced drilling at the Nankivel copper-gold porphyry target, located along a connecting structure four kilometres from the company’s 33 million ounce Paris silver project on the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia.

Investigator Resources said the new campaign follows assessment of prior drilling and an Induced Polarisation (IP) geophysical survey undertaken during late 2016.

From this work a large and undrilled 800 metre by 1.5km demagnetised area was interpreted by Investigator to be a potentially copper-mineralised centre to the Nankivel porphyry system.

Investigator indicated the first hole of the campaign to be underway and is scheduled to be followed by a second hole positioned 800m to the southeast of the first.

Both inclined holes will test moderate IP chargeability anomalies within the central target area while drill holes 3 and 4 will be positioned according to the results of the first two holes.

“The drilling is also an important test of the concept for new styles of porphyry copper-gold deposits in South Australia that are in the same geological province and of the same geological age as the giant Olympic Dam iron oxide copper-gold deposit,” Investigator Resources said in its ASX announcement.

Blackham Resources Confirms Wiluna Pit Potential

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Blackham Resources (ASX: BLK) is currently conducting Reserve Definition Drilling at the East and West lodes at the company’s Wiluna gold operation I Western Australia.

Blackham Resources intends using Ore Reserves identified by this drilling as the basis for a Stage 2 expansion study aimed at growing production at Wiluna beyond 200,000 ounces of gold per annum.

Blackham commenced a program of RC and diamond drilling in February targeting the Wiluna open pits to extend mineralisation and improve the confidence level of the Mineral Resources from Inferred to Indicated.

The first assay results have been received for a portion of this program.

Drilling targeting the Central Zone intersected broad zones of moderate to low grade mineralisation with higher grades associated with northwest striking lithological contacts.

All the mineralisation in the Central Zone is outside the current Mineral Resource and will be included in the next resource update.

Broad mineralised intercepts include:

WUDD0004
53.3 metres at 1.5 grams per tonne gold from 132m, including 37m at 1.84g/t gold from 148m;

WUDD0005

Infill drilling targeting the East and West lodes has also continued to confirm continuity of mineralisation.

Highlights from the West Lode include:

WUDD0001
28m at 3.78g/t gold from 38m, including 4.2m at 13.3g/t gold and 3.4m at 8.5g/t gold;

WUDD0002
18m at 1.84g/t gold from 204m, including 0.6m at 13.7g/t gold; and

WUDD0003
9m at 1.53g/t gold from 117m, 7m at 6.53g/t gold from 146m, including 4.1m at 9.98g/t gold and 18m at 6.72g/t gold from 160m, including 6m at 15.2g/t gold.

Blackham is planning to install an additional 1.5 million tonnes per annum milling capacity in addition to the recently refurbished 1.7 million tonnes per annum oxide circuit.

This would take total capacity to approximately 3.2 million tonnes per annum across the oxide and sulphide circuits, all located at the Wiluna processing hub.

“The latest Wiluna drill results when combined with our mining studies, suggest a large East West open pit with strong grade 1.5 kilometres long, 600 metres wide and 230 metres deep to feed an expanded Wiluna gold plant, Blackham Resources managing director Bryan Dixon said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“Mining studies are aimed at feeding half the planned throughput from the open pits and half from the underground.

“The latest drilling results give us extra confidence we can sustain a 200,000 ounce per annum operation with a long mine life.”

Kin Mining Claims New Shallow Gold Discovery

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Kin Mining (ASX: KIN) reported the intersection of multiple intervals of shallow high-grade gold mineralisation at the Fiona prospect, located within the Cardinia Mining Centre at the company’s Leonora gold project (LGP) in Western Australia.

Kin Mining claimed the mineralisation was intersected near-surface and considers the results to highlight the potential for additional gold to be discovered outside the current known Mineral Resources at Cardinia.

With the results in hand, Kin is planning further drilling at Fiona with a view to including the prospect in the LGP Feasibility Study, scheduled for mid-year completion.

Highlights of the recent drilling include:

HE17RC028

8 metres at 51.4 grams per tonne gold from 10m, including 4m at 101g/t gold – including 1m at 283g/t gold;

HE17RC026

9m at 6.1g/t gold from 21m, including 3m at 12g/t gold;

HE17RC031

4m at 7.4g/t gold from 10m, including 3m at 9.5g/t gold;

HE17RC033

10m at 3.6g/t gold from 25m, and 12m at 1.4g/t gold from 38m to end of hole;

HE17RC032

4m at 4.1g/t gold from 24m, including 2m at 6g/t gold;

HE17RC038

11m at 1.8g/t gold from 13m, including 2m at 4.6g/t gold; and

HE17RC040

14m at 1.3g/t gold from surface, including 4m at 2.8g/t gold.

“Such shallow high-grade results at the newly defined Fiona prospect show there are still significant discoveries to be made at the LGP,” Kin Mining managing director Don Harper said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“The fact that these intersections are outside our existing resources and mine plan clearly demonstrates significant upside potential.

“It is highly encouraging that the new Fiona prospect remains open in all directions.”

Kin Mining explained the recent drilling has been undertaken to follow up historic gold intersections in an area along strike to the north of the Helens North Resource, which currently stands at 760,000 tonne at 1.2g/t gold for 29,000 ounces of gold.

A total of sixteen reverse circulation (RC) drill holes were completed at Fiona.

S2 Resources Receives First Bjurtraskgruvan Assay Results

THE DRILL SERGEANT: S2 Resources (ASX: S2R) received assay results for the first three diamond holes drilled to test the down plunge continuation of known mineralisation at the Bjurtraskgruvan VMS deposit on the company’s 100 per cent-owned Skellefte project in Sweden.

S2 Resources said the three holes were drilled on a broad spacing to scope out the immediate strike and down plunge potential of the known near surface mineralisation.

Better intersections include:

SBJK170003
14.71 metres at 2.2 per cent zinc, 1 per cent copper and 5.4 grams per tonne silver from 176m, including 2.13m at 8.2 per cent zinc, 1.7 per cent copper and 8.5g/t silver from 177m;

SBJK170001
3.25m at 0.5 per cent zinc, 1.2 per cent copper and 5.4g/t silver from 185.1m, located 40m east along strike from hole SBJK170003; and

SBJK170002
3.06m at 1.3 per cent zinc and 9.7g/t silver from 21.3m, located 154m up dip of hole SBJK170003.

S2 Resources said that, based on the overall known geometry of the mineralisation, it has interpreted these intersections to be close to true width.

The company indicated the best intersection came from the last hole drilled (SBJK170003), which is the deepest point drilled to date, at a depth of approximately 150m below surface, some 330m down plunge from the outcropping mineralisation.

“The drilling outlines a VMS-style system that has a strike length of 260 metres, has a down plunge extent of at least 330 metres, and is open down plunge beyond this drilling,” S2 Resources said in its ASX announcement.

“Surface EM and down hole EM (DHEM) in SBJK170003 indicates the mineralisation continues down dip and down plunge.

“The mineralisation comprises an upper lens of pyrrhotite dominated massive sulphides containing sphalerite (zinc sulphide) and a subjacent structurally remobilised footwall stockwork zone of chalcopyrite (copper sulphide) veins and stringers.

“Several more holes have been planned to test down plunge of these intercepts as soon as the rig completes initial drilling at another target.”
