Blackstone Minerals Drilling at Silver Swan

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Blackstone Minerals (ASX: BSX) announced the commencement of drilling at the company’s Silver Swan South project, northeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

Blackstone Minerals indicated this initial phase of drilling will focus on further definition of gold targets associated with an interpreted northern extension of the Fitzroy Shear, which it pointed out to be the controlling host structure at the Kanowna Belle gold deposit.

The program will also entail infill drilling of historical, broad spaced, reconnaissance drilling which intersected up to 3.5g/t gold as well as target thickening of the ultramafic sequence Blackstone considers to be prospective for nickel sulphides located 10 kilometres from the Silver Swan nickel mine.

The upcoming work will also prioritise both gold and nickel targets for follow up RC drilling.

“At Silver Swan South, Blackstone gets to test two targets for the price of one,” Blackstone Minerals technical director Andrew Radonjic said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“The company is looking forward to testing for the interpreted strike extension of the controlling structure from a major gold deposit and for testing an ultramafic unit which is part of a sequence of komatiites which already hosts two major nickel deposits, both targets being within close proximity to Kalgoorlie.”
