Wildcat Resources Extends Lithium Mineralisation at Leia Pegmatite

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Wildcat Resources (ASX: WC8) reported lithium results it claims to have highlighted the growing potential of the company’s Tabba Tabba lithium project near Port Hedland in Western Australia.

Wildcat Resources’ recent exploration efforts have defined a 3.2 kilometres long LCT pegmatite field hosting at least six pegmatite bodies (Leia, Luke, Chewy, Tabba Tabba, Han and The Hutt).

The company conducted drilling at Tabba Tabba focused on extending the Luke Pegmatite to the south, delineating extensions to high-grade zones in Leia and identifying additional near-surface mineralisation in adjacent pegmatites (The Hutt and Chewy).

Drilling at Luke focussed on an untested area to the south of existing drilling identifying further mineralised extensions to the pegmatite, with the most southern drillhole intercepting:

TARC376
18 metres at 1.3 per cent lithium oxide (Li2O) from 157m (16.2m est. true width), including a high-grade zone of 5m at 3.4 per cent Li2O from 157.0m (4.5m est. true width).

Targeted drilling at Leia of 50m spaced step-outs along strike and down dip from known zones of interest increased confidence and continuity of high-grade zones.

Hole TADD042 targeted the interpreted position of Leia adjacent to a Proterozoic dyke, intercepting:

50.3m at 1.2 per cent Li2O from 237 (est. true width), including 28m at 1.6 per cent Li2O from 259m.

Hole TADD051 intercepted a zone of continuous pegmatite over an interval of 154.1m, which included a broad zone of mineralisation of 153.5m at 1 per cent Li2O from 171m (est. true width).

“Results from drilling continue to demonstrate thick, high grades at the Leia Pegmatite and have extended the Luke Pegmatite in the south,” Wildcat Resources said in its ASX announcement.

“Drilling on the surrounding pegmatites continues to identify shallow zones of mineralisation in the Chewy and The Hutt pegmatites (which overlie Leia).”

Tabba Tabba is near some of the world’s largest hard-rock lithium mines, 47 kilometres from Pilbara Minerals’ Pilgangoora project and 87km from Mineral Resources’ Wodgina project.

“I’m confident we are in the early stages of a major discovery at Tabba Tabba and it’s been a welcome surprise to see the size of the system,” Wildcat Resources managing director Samuel Ekins said in the company’s ASX announcement.

“Over 95 per cent of all holes to date have intersected pegmatites and we eagerly await further rounds of assays.

“Our central pegmatite is now over 1.2kilometres long (open to the north), subvertical and outcropping at widths of over 50 metrrs which is very significant.

“Given our proximity to major global lithium projects including Pilgangoora and Wodgina, we see plenty of potential to uncover a large-scale lithium deposit across the extensive 3.2 kilometres trending pegmatite system.

“We anticipate receiving Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) approval for our acquisition of Tabba Tabba and Ministerial Approval by the end of September and bringing our first diamond rig onto site in early October, with more results from our initial drilling expected also.”
