Plymouth Minerals Achieves High lithium recoveries at San Jose
THE DRILL SERGEANT: Plymouth Minerals (ASX: PLH) achieved high lithium recovery results from an ongoing metallurgical testwork program underway at the company’s advanced San Jose lithium project in Spain.
Plymouth Minerals said the initial results it had received from this first pass metallurgical testwork program had exceeded its expectations.
The testwork used a sulphuric acid leach to produce a recovery of 97 per cent lithium oxide (Li2O).
Plymouth said this compares favourably to historic feasibility study data completed by Spanish Company Tolsa between 1987-1991 at the project, which demonstrated a 96 per cent recovery.
Plymouth said the work had not only confirmed the integrity of the historical project data it hads recently acquired, but the quality of the historical data, in conjunction with the positive results being achieved by the current field programs at San Jose, could position the company to fast-track economic studies and a Mining Lease Application for the project.
“Achieving 97 per cent recovery results from the initial metallurgical testwork plus the continued broad intersections being delivered from our drilling further confirms the company’s confidence in the strength of the San Jose lithium project,” Plymouth Minerals executive chairman Adrian Byass said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.
“Plymouth is focused on bringing the project to Feasibility Study and development as quickly as possible.”
Plymouth indicated its keenness to ensure the advancement of San Jose is leveraged off the detailed metallurgical testwork from their earlier feasibility study reports commissioned by Tolsa.
Plymouth said its current testwork program has been developed to confirm the work completed by Tolsa to produce a modern flowsheet that can produce lithium carbonate from the San Jose deposit.
