Peel Mining Reports Best Wirlong Copper Intercept
THE DRILL SERGEANT: Peel Mining (ASX: PEX) announced the best copper intercept it has reported to date at the company’s 60 per cent-owned Wirlong prospect near Cobar in western New South Wales.
Peel Mining said the intercept of 17 metres at 4.59 per cent copper and 8 grams per tonne silver from 738m, achieved in drillhole WLRRCDD043, extended the down-dip continuity of strong copper mineralisation at Wirlong to approximately 600m below surface.
“Significantly, a substantial ‘offhole’ downhole electromagnetic geophysical anomaly centred north of WLRCDD043 points to possible extensions to substantial copper mineralisation,” Peel Mining said in its ASX announcement.
“The encouraging indications from WLRCDD043 prompted the decision to drill another hole, WLRCDD044, testing downdip from WLRCDD043, which is continuing.”
Peel Mining’s most recent drilling at Wirlong has completed five RC drillholes (WLRC038 to WLRC042 for 2,150m) and one RC precollar/diamond tail drillhole (WLRCDD043 for 891.6m).
The RC drillholes were designed to test for mineralisation along strike from previous copper intersections.
Peel Mining has reported all drillholes intersected copper mineralisation.
