Thundelarra Wraps up Garden Gully AC Drilling

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Thundelarra (ASX: THX) reported the completion of an Air Core (AC) drilling program at the company’s Garden Gully project in the Murchison region of Western Australia.

Thundellara has submitted samples from the drilling for assaying.

The company said the objective of the AC program was to test for near-surface extensions of known mineralised structures and to provide geological data over zones that its initial interpretation suggested might host previously unrecognised structures with the potential to be mineralised.

The drilling consisted 274 AC holes drilled for 14,025m, including 20 AC traverses across seven prospects testing for near-surface extensions of mineralised structures.

Reverse Circulation (RC) and diamond drilling (DD) rigs are currently on site conducting follow-up drilling.

“When all assay results have been received and collated then the resultant geological interpretations will be reported to the market, together with any significant findings,” Thundelarra said in its ASX announcement.

“Our initial shallow scout drilling at Garden Gully, which began in mid-2016, aimed to identify targets below the transported cover.

“The approach proved very successful, delivering several new prospects that were previously unknown, with Lydia a prime example.

“Given the positive outcomes of that initial exploration, we remain confident that these recently-completed air core traverses will identify multiple additional targets for more detailed follow-up in subsequent programs.”

Thundelarra Stakes Exploration Discovery Claims

THE CONFERENCE CALLER: Thundelarra (ASX: THX) CEO Tony Lofthouse gave delegates at the RIU Explorers Conference in Fremantle something to think about. By Jack Baker

“We’re a gold explorer,” Lofthouse informed the crowd.

“We’re finding native, visible, fresh, free gold in fresh rock at 200-odd metres vertical extending below the existing operations…it’s not little stuff that’s coming out the near surface.

“This is real rock, real gold in the rock and it means there’s a primary deposit there and that’s what’s significant for us.

“We have money in the game and it’s not freebies that have been handed out…it’s hard earned cash in the company which is why we’re convinced that what we have is worth pursuing.”

The crux of the presentation was what the company believes to be a major discovery in the Garden Gully site.

Lofthouse said results of drilling of the Lydia and Crown Prince sites at Garden Gully show near-surface material he thinks they can get to.

He said that while some deposits may be deep; they are showing that below the existing workings they are still seeing a high grade perpetuated below the historical work.

He also noted that Garden Gully was situated close to the established Andy Well and Bluebird gold plants, with the ability to arrange toll treatment operations for quick monetisation.

“If we can do that we can start self-funding further exploration to establish the potential that exists unquestionably at depth at this deposit,” he said.

One thing that Lofthouse found interesting was observation of gold within arsenopyrite.

While its presence complicates mineralisation, he noted that it was rare you get any deposit of size without some structural complexity.

“We own our interests and our destiny 100 per cent and the bits that we don’t own are freebies for us,” he said.

“They don’t have any drain on any of our capital, either intellectual or financial.”

Thundelarra Drills Further Promise at Transylvania

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Thundelarra (ASX: THX) updated the market on recent diamond and reverse circulation drilling carried out at prospects, including Transylvania and Battery, that form part of the company’s Garden Gully gold project near Meekatharra in Western Australia’s Murchison Province.

Thundelarra completed 20 reverse circulation (RC) holes and one diamond hole to test targets at four Garden Gully prospects.

New intersections encountered at Transylvania (downhole widths) returned:

TGGRC123
3 metres at 8.3 grams per tonne gold from 68m, within 8m at 3.3g/t gold from 67m.

New intersections at Battery (downhole widths) returned:

TGGRC137
4m at 2.6g/t gold from 52m, within 6m at 1.9g/t gold from 52m.

The results follow previously announced intersections at Transylvania of:

TGGRC044
2m at 4.4g/t gold from 108m, within 7m at 1.3g/t gold from 107m; and

TGGRC022
2m at 6.1g/t gold from 106m, within 6m at 2.8g/t gold from 103m.

And previously announced intersections at Battery of:

TGGRC053
4m at 3.3g/t gold from 164m, within 8m at 2g/t gold from 164m.

“Evaluation of new data from drilling at Transylvania, Battery, South Crown and Granite Well continues to support the possible existence of a large mineralised system at depth beneath Garden Gully, acting as a single source for the mineralisation at these prospects and at Lydia and Crown Prince,” Thundelarra said in its ASX announcement.

“Next drilling programs will work towards delivering maiden resources at both the Crown Prince and the Lydia prospects and at identifying new mineralised structures to contribute to the Garden Gully project’s inventory.

“Results from over 26,000 metres drilled in 141 holes (23,556m RC; 2,523m DD) since mid-2016 continue to support the potential for a major new gold discovery at Garden Gully, located in one of Western Australia’s most productive gold provinces.”
