Thor Mining Hits High-grade Gold at Kelly’s Ridge

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Thor Mining (ASX: THR) reported on recent drilling from the company’s Kelly’s Ridge prospect in the Eastern Pilbara of Western Australia.

Thor Mining said the drilling had encountered high-grade gold along Kelly’s Ridge were previous rock chip sampling at surface reported up to 15 grams per tonne gold and 535g/t silver.

The company received its best intercept to date of:

22RRC0052
4 metres at 12.2 grams per tonne gold from 194m.

“The intercept of 4 metres at 12.2 grams per tonne gold is an exceptional result under Kelly’s Ridge, especially given the depth of the 194 metres downhole, showing excellent grade continuity from the surface,” Thor Mining managing director Nicole Galloway Warland said in the company’s ASX announcement.

“This confirms the potential of the site as indicated by historical drilling. Furthermore, with more drilling results to come, we are looking forward to gaining further understanding of the project.”

Thor Mining Identifies Electromagnetic Conductor at Ragged Range Project

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Thor Mining (ASX: THR) recently completed an electromagnetic geophysics survey at the company’s 100 per cent-owned Ragged Range project in the Eastern Pilbara of Western Australia.

Thor Mining reported the high-powered Fixed Loop Electromagnetics (FLEM) ground geophysics survey has identified a shallow conductor beneath the nickel gossan at the project’s Krona prospect.

The survey over the gossan was designed to detect conductive anomalies at depth that may indicate the presence of massive nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation to constrain initial drill testing.

The company has interpreted the conductor to be consistent with sulphides and has deemed it to warrant drill testing to validate.

Thor indicated it would be drill testing the shallow conductor, including downhole EM, as part of an upcoming reverse circulation (RC) drilling program scheduled to commence next week at the Sterling gold prospect.

“I am encouraged that the first ground geophysics survey at Ragged Range has identified a shallow electromagnetic conductor,” Thor Mining managing director Nicole Galloway Warland said in the company’s ASX announcement.

“The target is modelled at around 100 metres below the surface, establishing it a clear drill target for the upcoming RC drilling program.

“We look forward to drill testing this anomaly as part of our RC drilling program, scheduled to commence at Sterling prospect next week.”

Thor Mining Drills Wide Mineralised Intercept at Molyhil Project

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Thor Mining (ASX: THR) reported on recent drilling undertaken at the company’s Molyhil tungsten-molybdenum-copper project in the Northern Territory.

Thor Mining announced that the second hole in its current diamond drilling program (21MHD002) intercepted scheelite, molybdenite and chalcopyrite mineralisation within a magnetite skarn, at the Molyhil tungsten-molybdenum-copper project.

The company said that 21MHDD002 had intercepted over 45 metres of disseminated scheelite-molybdenite-chalcopyrite mineralisation in a massive magnetite-rich skarn.

Thor said the drilling has confirmed the recently identified magnetic target to the south of the Molyhil deposit to be a continuation (or possibly offset) of the Molyhil deposit tungsten-molybdenum-copper mineralisation.

Based on the results achieved by the second drillhole, a third hole is now underway, designed to target the projection of the 21MHDD002 mineralisation down plunge.

“Testing a new geological concept, in this case an interpreted magnetic target from 3D modelling to the south of existing mineralisation, has paid off significantly,” Thor Mining managing director Nicole Galloway Warland said in the company’s ASX announcement.

“The tungsten-molybdenum-copper mineralisation is open to the south and the third hole is designed to test this south plunging model.

“The extension of this mineralisation, directly south of the deposit, in a previously untested area, is pivotal to the overall Molyhil project.”

Thor Mining Records Further High-Grade Copper Hits

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Thor Mining (ASX: THR) reported follow-up copper and gold intercepts from a recently completed initial diamond drilling program at the company’s Alford East copper-gold project in South Australia.

Nine diamond drillholes have been completed to date, with assays received for three drillholes – 21AED001, 21AED002, and now 21AED005.

Latest news from the lab returned an exceptional high-grade copper intercept over a wide interval of:

21AED005
72.7m at 1.0 per cent copper and 0.19 grams per tonne gold from 6.3m, including 18.2m at 2 per cent copper and 0.34g/t gold from 15.8m.

This follows-on from assays announced last week by Thor of other copper-gold intercepts including:

21AED001
32.9m at 0.4 per cent copper and 0.31g/t gold from 81.5m, and 5m at 0.5 per cent copper and 1.02g/t gold from 102m; and

21AED002
59.9m at 0.31 per cent copper from 21.9m.

“The newly discovered broad zone of high copper and gold grades from near surface in 21AED005, combined with the significant intercepts in 21AED001 and 21AED002 takes this oxide mineralised system to a new level, reporting values well above the Mineral Resource Estimate grades,” Thor Mining managing director Nicole Galloway Warland said in the company’s ASX announcement.

“The confirmed uplift in copper and gold grades along the controlling NNE structure continues to excite and exceed Thor’s expectations.

“We look forward to testing this structure in areas open along strike, to the north and south.

“Pump testing scheduled for start of September will further advance the In-Situ Recovery (ISR) ‘proof of concept’ hydrometallurgical assessment.

“Exciting times ahead as we await final assay results from this drilling campaign and commence the ISR for copper and gold baseline studies.”

The Alford East Copper-Gold Project is located on EL6529, where Thor is earning up to 80 per cdent interest from unlisted Australian explorer Spencer Metals Pty Ltd, covering portions of EL6255 and EL6529.

The Alford East project covers the northern extension of the Alford Copper Belt, located on the Yorke Peninsula.

The Alford Copper Belt is a semi coherent zone of copper-gold oxide mineralisation, within a structurally controlled, north-south corridor consisting of deeply kaolinised and oxidised troughs within metamorphic units on the edge of the Tickera Granite of the Gawler Craton.

Thor completed an inferred Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) in January 2021 from historic drill hole information of 125.6 million tonnes at 0.14 per cent copper containing 177,000 tonnes of contained copper and 71, 500 ounces of contained gold.

Thor Mining Drilling at Alford East Project

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Thor Mining (ASX: THR) has commenced a 2000 metres diamond drilling program at the company’s Alford East copper-gold project in South Australia.

Thor Mining explained the drilling program will focus on depth extension and structural delineation of the northern mineralised domains of the Alford East copper-gold deposit.

The Alford East copper-gold project is located on EL6529, where Thor is earning up to 80 per cent interest from unlisted Australian explorer Spencer Metals Pty Ltd, covering portions of EL6255 and EL6529.

“Thor is excited about commencing its maiden drilling program at Alford East, where our geology teams’ new geological model strongly indicates new weathering boundaries opening up copper oxide mineralisation potential at depth and along strike,” Thor Mining managing director Nicole Galloway Warland said in the company’s ASX announcement.

“At a time when the copper price is at decade highs, Thor is fast tracking the exploration and development of the Alford East copper project.”

Based on historic drillhole information, Thor completed an inferred Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) of 125.6 million tonnes at 0.14 per cent copper containing 177,000 tonnes of contained copper and 71, 500 ounces of contained gold.

The company said the MRE demonstrates the initial size of the oxide copper-gold opportunity with potential to grow the MRE along strike and at depth.

Thor Mining Awarded Northern Territory Government Drilling Funds

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Thor Mining (ASX: THR) has picked up a Northern Territory Government grant for drilling at the company’s Molyhil project.

Thor Mining was awarded $110,000 from the NT Government as part of its Resourcing the Territory, Geophysics and Drilling Collaborations (GDC) program.

Thor indicated the funds will be used for drill testing of recently identified magnetic targets adjacent to the mineralisation at the Molyhil tungsten-molybdenum deposit.

The Molyhil deposit is located north-east of Alice Springs within the prospective polymetallic province of the Proterozoic Eastern Arunta Block in the NT.

In April this year, Thor released a revised Mineral Resource Estimate comprising Measured, Indicated, and Inferred Mineral Resources, totalling 4.4 million tonnes at 0.27 per cent tungsten, 0.1 per cent molybdenum, and 0.05 per cent copper.

“The successful grant is a strong validation by the Northern Territory Geological Survey of the prospectivity of the magnetic targets identified at Molyhil,” Thor Mining managing director Nicole Galloway Warland said in the company’s ASX announcement.

“We acknowledge and thank the Northern Territory Geological Survey and the NT Government for this positive exploration initiative.

“This is the third successful government grant Thor has received this year, towards co-funding of our upcoming 2021 drilling programs: three grants for three different projects in three different states.

“June will be a busy month with drilling commencing at Alford East project, SA next week, followed shortly thereafter at our USA uranium project and Ragged Range gold project in WA.”
