Encounter Resources Commences Major Paterson Province Drilling Campaign

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Encounter Resources (ASX: ENR) has recommenced drilling at the Yeneena copper-cobalt project in the Paterson Province of WA.

The latest round of drilling is part of the company’s $15 million exploration earn-in with IGO Limited and will involve up to 1,900 metres of diamond drilling targeting:

The Windsor EM target that is located west of the BM1 copper oxide zone where previous drilling encountered 10 metres at 6.8 per cent copper from 32m, 20m at 2 per cent copper from 22m, and 16m at 3.2 per cent copper from 26m;

The Aria IOCG target, which is a conductive feature that has been identified on the margin of the Aria breccia pipe where localised copper mineralisation has been intersected in two diamond holes drilled to date; and

A stratigraphic diamond drill hole (1,000m) to test the contact between sandstone belonging to the Coolbro Formation and shales belonging to the Broadhurst Formation.

Once drilling at Yeneena is done, the rig will be moved to conduct drill testing of a new copper drill target at the Millennium Joint Venture (Encounter 75% / Hampton Hill Mining 25%).

This will be followed by up to 1,500m of EIS co-funded drilling at Encounter’s 100 per cent-owned Lamil copper-gold project.

“We have two months of predominantly copper focussed diamond drilling planned in the Paterson Province,” Encounter Resources managing director Will Robinson said in the company’s ASX announcement.

“This will include drilling of two high quality targets at Yeneena as part of the IGO earn-in; testing of a copper target at the Millennium Joint Venture; and drilling for further mineralised extensions at the 100 per cent-owned Lamil copper-gold project.

“This exciting program has commenced at Yeneena and we expect first results to be returned in May 2021.”

Encounter Resources Welcomes IGO in $15M Yeneena Earn-In Agreement

THE BOURSE WHISPERER: Encounter Resources (ASX: ENR) informed the market that Independence Group (ASX: IGO) has elected to enter an earn-in and Joint Venture agreement.

Encounter Resources explained the deal will result in IGO agreeing to sole fund up to $15 million in exploration expenditure at the Yeneena copper-cobalt project in Western Australia to earn a 70 per cent interest.

The Yeneena project comprises a major land position covering more than 1,400 square kilometres in the highly-prospective Paterson Province of WA where Encounter has been targeting copper-cobalt mineralisation.

Exploration activity in the Paterson Province has been on the rise since Rio Tinto (ASX: RIO) declared its Winu copper-gold discovery and Newcrest Mining (ASX: NCM) and Greatland Gold plc have been operating their Havieron gold-copper project.

Encounter and IOG were busy on the ground during 2019, applying advanced geophysical and geochemical exploration methods at Yeneena that defined a suite of new, large scale targets.

The JV anticipates these exploration activities to resume at Yeneena in April/May that is expected to include additional ground geophysics and further application of geochemistry, followed by aircore, RC and/or diamond drilling.

“The Paterson Province is a highly fertile district with enormous potential for new copper-cobalt discoveries under thin sand cover,” Encounter Resources managing director Will Robinson said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“This partnership with IGO is just what Yeneena needed.

“Deploying a suite of new exploration methodologies in 2019 has provided a whole new perspective on the mineral potential at Yeneena.

“We look forward to continuing this exciting partnership with IGO to refine and test a number of large-scale copper-cobalt targets at Yeneena in 2020.”

Encounter Resources Generates New Paterson Province Copper Targets

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Encounter Resources (ASX ENR) has recently completed the application of advanced exploration technologies at the company’s Yeneena copper-cobalt project in the Paterson Province of Western Australia.

Encounter Resources, in collaboration with Independence Group (ASX: IGO) conducted a large scale (approx. 100-line km) magnetotelluric (MT) survey at the Yeneena project.

The MT survey was part of the company’s 2019 program that was designed to define the 3D geology and identify large scale copper targets by applying several advanced exploration technologies for the first time at the Yeneena project including:

The large-scale (MT) survey to better define the Yeneena basin architecture and further advance 3D target definition;

Detailed 3D audio-magnetotelluric (AMT) inversion modelling over the Aria iron oxide copper-gold prospect in order to better define possible conductive zones associated with significant Cu sulphide mineralisation;

End-of-hole trace multi-element geochemistry of historical AC drilling to define alteration footprints of copper deposits and the host rocks, which remains in progress; and

Application of new surface geochemistry techniques to detect base metal anomalies through shallow sand cover, the trial phase of which is complete with follow up sampling programs in progress.

The work completed to date has generated a suite of new copper targets at Yeneena.

“The Paterson Province is a highly fertile district with enormous potential for new copper discoveries under thin sand cover,” Encounter Resources managing director Will Robinson said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“Applying new technologies is providing us with an improved understanding of the geological framework in areas where we have already drilled high grade copper mineralisation.

“These new targets generated are now being integrated and refined to be ready for drilling in the 2020 field season.”

The Yeneena project is an alliance between Independence Group and Encounter, under which IGO may, at any time before 1 March 2020, elect to enter an earn-in agreement to spend up to $15 million to earn a 70 per cent interest in the project.

The Yeneena project was recently expanded by 20 per cent through an option agreement completed covering 235 square kilometres of ground adjacent to Yeneena.
