Encounter Resources Hits Thick, high-Grade Niobium-REE at Aileron

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Encounter Resources (ASX: ENR) reported the intersection of high-grade niobium and REE mineralisation at the company’s 100 per cent-owned Aileron critical minerals project in the West Arunta region of Western Australia.

Although in Western Australia, the Arunta project Is located approx. 600 kilometres west of Alice Springs.

Encounter’s drilling campaign followed earlier large gravity, magnetic and radiometric surveys at Aileron, from which it defined three initial drill targets at Caird, Crean and Hoschke.

The first two holes at Crean, drilled 1.5km apart on the Elephant Island Fault, intersected carbonatites with both RC pre-collars finishing in high-grade niobium and rare earths mineralisation.

Hole EAL008 intersected 94.7m of carbonatite from 55m to 149.7m.

Assays results from the 90m deep RC pre-collar returned:
34 metres at 1 per cent niobium (Nb2O5) and 0.6 per cent total rare earth oxide (TREO) from 56m to end of pre-collar, including 4m at 3.8 per cent Nb2O5 and 1.9 per cent TREO from 56m.

Hole EAL007 intersected 282m of carbonatite from 64m to end of hole at 346m.

Assay results from the 69m deep RC pre-collar returned:
2m at 1.2 per cent Nb2O5 and 0.6 per cent TREO from 67m to end of pre-collar.

“The intersection of high-grade niobium and rare earths at Crean in the first two holes drilled 1.5 kilometres apart is an incredible start and demonstrates the critical minerals potential that is emerging in the West Arunta,” Encounter Resources managing director Will Robinson said in the company’s ASX announcement.

“An 8,000 to 10,000 metres RC drill program is scheduled to commence in August to extend the niobium-REE mineralisation at Crean as well as drill testing a suite of new, high-quality targets.

“It’s still very early days but the success rate from the small number of holes drilled in the West Arunta is quite extraordinary and bodes well for future drill programs at Aileron.”

Encounter Resources Defines Targets West Arunta Diamond Drilling

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Encounter Resources (ASX: ENR) is preparing for an upcoming drilling campaign after geophysical modelling refined targets at the company’s 100 per cent-owned Aileron copper-REE project in the West Arunta region of Western Australia.

Encounter Resources completed large gravity, magnetic and radiometric surveys at Aileron during 2021 and 2022, resulting in the identification of three priority drill targets for 2023: Caird, Crean and Worsley.

Caird – described by the company as a ‘bullseye’ coincident magnetic and density anomaly 5km north-west of the recent Luni mineralised carbonatite discovery by WA1 Resources;

Crean – regional scale magnetic anomaly with an offset gravity anomaly similar to the Prominent Hill IOCG deposit; and

Worsley – considered by Encounter as the region’s standout magnetic and coincident gravity anomaly with anomalous copper, gold, molybdenum, niobium and REE (up to 0.8%) intersected in prior incomplete drillhole EAL0001.

“Encounter has completed major gravity, magnetics and radiometric surveys at Aileron,” Encounter Resources managing director Will Robinson said in the company’s ASX announcement.

“These surveys have defined three priority drill targets.

“The Crean, Worsley and Caird targets are exceptional, large scale magnetic and gravity anomalies in an unexplored emerging critical minerals province.

“These anomalies have similar geophysical characteristics to the IOCG deposits in South Australia, such as Prominent Hill, and the recently discovered mineralised carbonatites in the West Arunta.

“The drill targets have been modelled as sub-vertical features at explorable depth.

“Diamond drilling will commence in April 2023.”

Encounter Resources Cites Encouraging Critical Minerals Start at Junction

THE CONFERENCE CALLER: Encounter Resources (ASX: ENR) is onto an “encouraging start” for critical minerals at its Junction lithium project in the Northern Territory, managing director Will Robinson said on the sidelines of the 2023 RIU Explorers Conference. By Ngaire McDiarmid

On the eve of the event, Encounter reported that rock chip assays had confirmed lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatites at Junction’s Crawford target, saying they were comparable to the host pegmatites of the Finnis lithium deposits in the Pine Creek region.

Robinson said it was the company’s first exploration in the area, which had been identified by director Dr Jon Hronsky as having potential for critical minerals or lithium.

“For us to go onto the ground and sample exactly what we want to see in our first program was a really encouraging start,” Robinson told Resources Roadhouse.

“Now the path from here is pretty clear, we’re going to do a soil sampling program and drill the best of the anomalies that come out of that.”

He thought the area was going to be regionally significant, noting Core Lithium’s Ringing Rocks lithium prospect was about 5km to the west.

Robinson expected exploration at Junction to form “a big part” of the 2023 work program for Encounter, which has suite of exploration projects in the NT and Western Australia, some subject to farm-ins with companies including BHP and IGO.

Encounter Resources Defines Drill Targets via Seismic Processing

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Encounter Resources (ASX: ENR) announced identification of a suite of drill targets at the Carrara and Jessica projects that are being explored in partnership with South32 under Farm-in Agreements in the Northern Territory.

Encounter Resources explained the targets emerged from reprocessing of seismic lines.

The Jessica copper project covers approx. 6,300 square kilometres along key structural corridors east of Tennant Creek and is prospective for sediment-hosted copper and IOCG style deposits.

The Carrara copper-zinc project was secured by Encounter upon release of the South Nicholson Seismic Survey, a foundational dataset acquired as part of the Geoscience Australia Exploring for the Future Program.

Carrara is located at an interpreted structural offset of the western margin of the Carrara Sub-basin where the prospective Isa Superbasin units are modelled closer to surface.

“Jessica and Carrara present as unique exploration opportunities,” Encounter Resources managing director Will Robinson said in the company’s ASX announcement.

“The South Nicholson Seismic Survey, acquired as part of the Geoscience Australia Exploring for the Future Program, has provided an incomparable dataset for mineral explorers in this part of the NT.

“We have utilised this widespread seismic coverage, together with a detailed gravity survey facilitated by the NT Geological Survey in 2022, to generate drill targets for testing in 2023.

“The reprocessing of the seismic lines at Jessica and Carrara by HiSeis, experts in hard rock geological imaging, was the first activity completed in the partnership with South32 and the results have been revealing.

“Applied extensively by the oil and gas industry, seismic modelling techniques have resulted in astounding exploration success.

“The application of seismic to hard rock minerals exploration has the potential to make step changes in success rates for copper and zinc discoveries in sedimentary basins.

“We are delighted that South32 is planning to commence with diamond drilling at Jessica and Carrara in the 2023 field season.”
