Rox Resources Hits Fisher East with Diamond Rig

THE DRILL SERGEANT: Rox Resources (ASX: RXL) has commenced diamond drilling at the company’s Fisher East nickel sulphide project in Western Australia.

Rox Resources said that three key targets are due to be tested looking for deep extensions of known resources and mineralisation at the highly-prospective project.

The program will include diamond drill holes at the Sabre prospect, targeting a large EM conductor previously identified by shallow RC drilling and intersected massive and disseminated nickel sulphides.

Rox explained the latest program will test the EM conductor at around 250 metres below surface to establish any potential for further massive sulphides at Sabre and to provide indications of the potential size and extent of the mineralisation.

Diamond drill holes at Camelwood will test for extensions of massive sulphides below the current extent of the resource, where the deepest intersection was at around 500 metres below surface, returning 1.6m at 3.7 per cent, and currently open at depth.

At Musket, a diamond hole is planned to test a strong downhole EM target some 150m from the limit of the current resource.

Massive nickel sulphides at Musket returned grades greater than 20 per cent nickel and Rox considers this conductor may represent the extension of the Musket orebody.

“Extensions of the mineral resources at Camelwood and Musket, and the confirmation of a mineral resource at Sabre would add significant value to the Fisher East project,” Rox Resources managing director Ian Mulholland said in the company’s announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

“We look forward to the results with anticipation.”

Rox Resources has been granted EIS (Exploration Incentive Scheme) funding by the Western Australian Government for the drilling at Sabre ($72,000) and Camelwood ($119,200).

The recent RC drilling program at Fisher East, which tested targets at Cutlass, Sabre North, Mt Tate, Tomahawk, Horatio and Claymore has been completed and assays are awaited.
